Each year, more than $1.5 billion is made available by utilities, government agencies and other sources to help offset the costs for efficiency improvements to buildings.
Most rebate programs are funded from a pool of monies collected by the local utility companies through surcharge, included in your monthly utility bill. This charge typically shows up as a line item on your utility bill, entitled “Public Purpose Program” or “Public Program.”
